What It’s Still About

I was asked on a form the other day why I started blogging.  Usually when I encounter this question, I direct people to my “What It’s All About” page but this time they wanted a short answer.  So I read over the page to remind myself where I was at that time and why Beyond Mommying exists.

A lot has changed since it all started more than two and a half years ago.  The blog has grown but I also feel like it has changed, developed, evolved.  And I’ve constantly been forced to make choices, determine the direction the blog is going to go and what its future looks like.

And while a lot of things have changed and I think I’ve made some really big improvements over the years, what hasn’t changed is my mission.

The reasons why I started blogging to begin with are still the same.  The stance I took when I had a post come under attack for the first time still rings true.  And all the reasons I continue to write and what my blog means to me personally haven’t changed.
Two and a half years and two boys later, through the countless adventures and struggles, I still find joy in writing and sharing.  I still find it exciting to get quality comments (though some of the crazy comments are fun to read) and to be featured other places.  And while I know there is still a ton of learning and growing to be done, I’m happy with where I am and how far the blog has come.

I may not be as big as others or seen as much “success” as those who have come after, but my blog is 1,000% me, my own and I’m glad I didn’t “sell out” to make it when I thought maybe I should because I’ve come to realize if it’s not me, it’s not worth it.

I say it a lot because I really mean it: Thank you for being on this journey with me.  Thank you for making it worth it to keep going.  And most importantly, thank you for continuing to help me see that all that I am as Beyond Mommying is more than enough.
