Maternity Photos

We are heading to the beach today to take our third set of maternity pictures.  Like most American couples, we decided with our first pregnancy to commemorate my pregnancy with professional pictures.  I found a photographer who had a great package deal (5 shoots for not too much including some prints and digital files).  We met her early one Saturday morning at a beach we’d never been too.  We took many of the cliché maternity pictures with baby blocks and booties, but what we ended up really loving were the simple ones of hubby and I just being together.  I also tried some dancing pictures but my balance was off since I hadn’t been taking class (the sand didn’t help either) and the photographer didn’t know how to be ready to capture the moment.

When we were expecting Sugarplum we decided to do another shoot.  As we were in Dublin at the time, I enquired to my friends and found out that one of our own (a dad that often attended our weekly playgroup) was a professional photographer.  We decided to stick with the beach theme and were lucky to have a beautiful, dry day (rare in Ireland!) to head to a quiet beach and take our pictures.  This time though we really just wanted to focus on the family as a whole and the baby bump as a part of that family, no cheesy maternity pictures.  We got some great family pictures and even better pictures of sweet little Honeybun. I hope our latest shoot will be as magical as the last one.  I’m looking forward to  pictures of the family (we haven’t done any since Easter two years ago) and also getting a few of the special moments of the girls’ unconditional love they’re already showing for this baby.  I’m also hoping to try some dancing again and since I’ve been taking class regularly I’m hoping I can make it happen!
