Kids Dance Movies for Inspiring Little Dancers

A few weeks ago, the girls and I were invited to see an advance screening of the motion picture Leap! The story of an orphaned girl realizing her big ballerina dreams was enjoyed by all three of us. The movie, which doesn’t just have an inspiring plot line, also featured amazing animation and dancing sequences and easily danced its way into our lineup of favorite kids dance movies.

I love sharing my love of dance and ballet through movies because getting to a live performance is not always feasible. But watching kids dance movies at home allows us to watch when it’s convenient and enjoy a show or movie over a few days rather than having to cut out a large chunk of time in our schedule.

And while I have my favorite dance movies like (affiliate links) Center Stage, Save the Last Dance, Turning Point, and Black Swan, they aren’t really kid appropriate movies. But the good news is, there are some really great movies about dance and ballet out there for kids.

My favorite kids dance movies for inspiring little dancers from fictional characters to documentaries following young dancers achieve their dreams.
