Today is a pretty cool day in our house: Today is our 100th day of homeschooling! When we took this big step over 5 months ago, I know we’d make it. And I was pretty sure we’d like it. But what I didn’t expect was how much we would LOVE it! I didn’t expect it to make such a drastic difference in our day to day, family life but it really has.
When I decided to try to think of 100 things we love about homeschooling, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it. But with a little help from the girls, here it is, 100 Great things about homeschool!
The flexibility- Being able to travel when we want
- Being able to travel when it’s cheap
- Sleeping in
- Homeschool groups
- Not having to do school runs in the rain
- Not having to sit in the car line
- Watching my children learn
- Deciding what my children learn
- Deciding when my children learn
- Knowing who they play with
- Seeing them learn new things
- Seeing them struggle and then succeed
- Taking days off when we want
- Skipping problems when we want
- Skipping assignments when we want
- No uniforms
- School in Pajamas
- Knowing my kids are challenged
Not rushing around- Not having to disrupt naptime for school pick up
- Unlimited family time
- Letting my kids play
- Going fun places like the zoo on school days
- Sharing the real world on a daily basis
- Spending more time with Daddy
- Making new friends
- Spending more time with Grandma and Grandpa
- Not having to pack lunches
- Not having to remember to send things back to school
- Not arguing about having to walk to school
- Not having to rush in the morning
- Not having to rush home for school pick up in the afternoon
- Not having to plan our lives around the school schedule
- Getting to swim everyday if we want
- Getting school done in 1/3 the time
- Letting the kids study topics they are interested in
- Knowing we aren’t wasting time
- Being able to go out to breakfast
Being able to go out to lunch- Being more patient
- Being less stressed
- Being less tired
- The kids getting along better

- Having a flexible routine

Being able to do school anywhere.- Moving on when we are ready
- Reviewing as much as we need to
- Making memories
- Letting my kids read whatever books they’re interested in
- Not limiting my kids to books at a certain level
- Hugging and kissing whenever we want
- Getting to play outside before it’s dark out
- Going to the park whenever we want
- Getting to see friends and family from out of town
- Watching the kids help each other learn
- No sandy shoes!
- Being able to limit screen time/censor what they see
- Not worrying about the kids getting sick
- Not having to decide if they’re “too sick” for school
- No calls from the school nurse 20 minutes before school is out
- No missing important information
- No wondering if the messages from your 5 year old are true or not
- Not having to buy special lunchbox food
- Not having to buy $30 tennis shoes for gym
- Not having clothes get ruined in art class
- Getting to talk to daddy during the day

Not worrying about bullying- Not worrying about what they’re learning from other kids

- Getting to spend as much time as we want or need on a task
- No deadlines or schedules
- No running forgotten items to the school
- No awkward parent teacher conferences
- Not hearing “she doesn’t want to be my friend!” or “She said I can’t come to her <make believe> birthday party!”
- Not having to buy $100 worth of school supplies
- Believing in the learning my children are doing
- Being 100% comfortable with where my children are spending their days
- Everyone Being happier!
