Hungarian Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:

  • 6 large green peppers
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 ½ cups cooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 small potatoes
  • 30 ounces canned tomato sauce
  • 30 ounces water
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

1.Wash peppers, remove stems and seeds

2.Brown ground beef in oil then add onion and cook until soft

3.Season with  salt, ½ teaspoon paprika and black pepper

4.Mix ½ cup of water with flour until smooth

5.In a large pot, combine tomato sauce, water, flour, mixture sugar and ½ teaspoon paprika

6.Combine rice , egg and meat mixture and fill peppers

7.Place peppers in tomato mixture, cover and cook on low for 30 minutes or until peppers begin to soften

8.Meanwhile, peel, cube and cook potatoes until tender

9.Serve stuffed peppers alongside potatoes and top with extra sauce.
