Baby Shower

Weird fact:  We’ve lived in our house for over 8 months and have never filled a bath tub.  No, no, my children aren’t disgusting slobs of children who only get “clean” when it happens to be warm enough to dip in the pool.

I got over bath time when Honeybun was strong enough to sit up unsupported and began taking her in the shower instead.  It’s so much quicker and easier and she loved it just as much as a proper bath.  The shower we had at the time was big enough that I could sit her on one end and she didn’t get water logged.  She would sit there and splash around in the shallow water until I was done then I would soap her up, rinse her off and we could go about our business.

Unfortunately our house in Dublin did not have a luxuriously large shower, in fact the few times I did take one of the girls in with me they nearly drowned as the water  spray reached every corner of the bottom of the shower (I remember watching them pushing their faces against the glass trying to get air).  Usually if we did just need a quick wash for them I would carry one in, wash rinse in my arms then hand back out to hubby.  We obviously took a lot of baths in Dublin and I did not like it one bit.

A top criteria for our new house when returning to Florida was a large shower and that’s just what we got, big enough for the whole family and then some!  We have given the girls proper baths since moving back at hotels when we travel but mostly they just hop in the shower with me.  At the end of a long day the last thing I have the patience for is preparing a bath and sitting while they play and then arguing when it’s time to get out!
