A Month in Review

Wow, I cannot believe that we’ve already had Doodle in our lives for a month (and then some, I completely missed the actual day!).  Every new (and repeat) mommy is constantly told how fast they grow and change and it is indeed true.  I can not believe how different Doodle has become in such a short time!

Doodle has turned into an incredibly strong little guy.  He rolled from his tummy to back at 16 days old (barely beating Sugarplum’s record of 18 days) and just before 4 weeks started rolling back to tummy.  He’s also already spending small bits of time in the Bumbo chair as he loves to sit up and look around and can hold his head up fairly easily (despite it being so HUGE!).

He is also, of course spending more time awake each day.  Unfortunately, his early easygoing demeanor has taken a turn for the more fussy side but we are hoping that is an issue of my milk supply and we are trying to work through it.  When he is happy, though, he is so happy and loves to stare into the faces of those he knows including me, hubby and the girls as well as watch the ceiling fans.

He is also starting to explore and even understand the world around him.  He has a few toys which make music and lights when he kicks or hits things and he has already learned how to make the toys work.  If he’s in the right mood for playing he’ll get excited and flail wildly until the music starts then watch mesmerized until it goes off then flails again.

He is also really great about going to sleep.  He’ll sometimes fall asleep feeding and other times he’ll fall asleep in my arms.  Occasionally he’ll get fussy and cry for a few minutes when we can’t get to him right away and then just decides to stop and fall asleep without first getting hysterical.  He’s also sleeping great at night, most nights going to bed by 9:30 then waking around 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00.

I think my favorite thing about Doodle right now is all the sleepy faces he makes.  As he dozes off to sleep he flutters his eyes while he pouts, smiles, grins and sometimes even laughs.  He’s also already learned how to work mommy and can bust out a pouty lip like no other!
