baby. \u00a0She fussed a lot and her fussing involved high-pitched screaming and wailing which could not be stopped. \u00a0She started screaming the night we brought her home from the hospital and by a few months old she was completely inconsolable. \u00a0She has been my only baby that wasn&#8217;t calmed by nursing. \u00a0She has been my only baby that wasn&#8217;t calmed by being held. \u00a0She has been my only baby that made me feel completely helpless almost daily.<\/p>\n<p>That is the baby I remember. \u00a0The one I used to wedge between Hooey and Funky Monkey in her Moses basket and rock vigorously with the TV on almost as loud as it could go. \u00a0The only one I let &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/23\/working-it-out\/\">cry it out<\/a>&#8221; (around 18 months). \u00a0And I struggled with the decision of whether to bring her back to Florida to see our pediatrician or wait it out.<\/p>\n<p>We decided to wait it out. \u00a0And I cried tears of joy the first time she stood independently. \u00a0And I clapped the loudest I&#8217;ve every clapped for my kids (and cried some more) when she took those beautiful first steps. \u00a0Yet I continued to worry as it took her weeks and weeks to begin walking confidently for more than a few steps (a sharp difference from her big sister who basically just got up and walked one day.)<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking.jpg\" alt=\"s walking\" width=\"2047\" height=\"1761\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking.jpg 2047w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-600x516.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-291x250.jpg 291w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-768x661.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-1024x881.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/s-walking-1000x860.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2047px) 100vw, 2047px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But it happened, eventually she walked. \u00a0And eventually I took her in to an osteopath and found out she had an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/02\/the-scream-heard-around-the-neighborhood\/\">extreme tightness through her right hip<\/a> which had caused the dragging, trouble balancing and trouble walking. \u00a0It also probably caused her immense discomfort which resulted in her fussiness.<\/p>\n<p>And I felt immense guilt for not getting her help sooner. \u00a0But we&#8217;ve come away from that stronger, she is my &#8220;Shortie&#8221;
