{"id":989,"date":"2013-06-20T09:39:43","date_gmt":"2013-06-20T13:39:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=989"},"modified":"2013-06-20T09:39:43","modified_gmt":"2013-06-20T13:39:43","slug":"wide-load","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/20\/wide-load\/","title":{"rendered":"Wide Load"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know I just had a baby, but really, my buggy isn\u2019t that big! \u00a0Besides, it carries two kids so it\u2019s going to be bigger than most.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t understand what retailers are thinking these days!<\/p>\n<p>Hubby, the family and I headed off to do some shopping yesterday morning after my breastfeeding support group got cancelled and we were gifted with an entirely free morning.\u00a0 I desperately need clothes with booby access that aren\u2019t 5 years old and falling apart.\u00a0 There is an \u201coutlet\u201d mall about a half hour away with a bazillion stores so it\u2019s a great place for one-stop shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Things started off easy enough, we perused a few stores, got a few items and I managed to squeeze my double buggy through most slots I wanted to get through (though I did ruffle a few racks).\u00a0 Then it all went downhill when I went into Gap.\u00a0 The first 3 paths I tried to take were too small for my buggy!\u00a0 I got so irritated by the whole thing I left the store completely.\u00a0 I moseyed across the mall to Oakley where hubby was shopping and AGAIN, could not get through the store.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-990 alignright\" alt=\"SONY DSC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-376x250.jpg 376w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC08278-390x259.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0The whole thing made me so frustrated I just want to go home and not even bother trying to shop anymore.\u00a0 To quote my dear dad: I am just BAFFLED by why stores make their aisles so narrow.\u00a0 I\u2019m so glad now I don\u2019t have a side by side double buggy because I would not even be able to navigate my neighborhood Target\u2019s baby section with anything wider than what I have (a Britax B-Ready, by the way\u2026see\u00a0<a style=\"line-height: 1.7;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/22\/gettin-around\/\">&#8220;Gettin&#8217; Around&#8221;<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.7;\">\u00a0for more on my buggy collection).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>My buggy is approximately as wide as a wheel chair (I\u2019ve compared at the airport) so if I can\u2019t get my buggy around stores, how do handicapped people do it?\u00a0 At least I can leave my buggy at the end of a rack while I look but someone in a wheelchair can\u2019t just get up to wander to what they want to see!<\/p>\n<p>So disappointed, don\u2019t women spend the most money?\u00a0 And aren\u2019t a fair number of women also moms?\u00a0 Why would stores be alienating their top customers?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know I just had a baby, but really, my buggy isn\u2019t that big! \u00a0Besides, it carries two kids so it\u2019s going to be bigger than most.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t understand what retailers are thinking these days!
