{"id":9346,"date":"2015-10-23T08:09:33","date_gmt":"2015-10-23T12:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=9346"},"modified":"2015-10-23T08:09:33","modified_gmt":"2015-10-23T12:09:33","slug":"the-first-50-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/10\/23\/the-first-50-days\/","title":{"rendered":"The First 50 Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tomorrow Pipsqueak will be 50 days old. \u00a0Every mommy says they can&#8217;t believe how fast their babies grow but this time has really just flown by and while I&#8217;ve tried to suck up every moment of his tiny baby-ness it&#8217;s going by way too fast and I&#8217;m not ready for it to end!<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;ve learned a lot about him the past 7 weeks and I have to say, aside from all the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/04\/meet-pipsqueak\/\">BIG surprises<\/a> when he was born, he is just as I imagined he would be.<\/p>\n<p>From a very tiny age in my tummy, he hated being poked at. \u00a0During his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/09\/were-having-a\/\">ultrasounds<\/a> he would move away from the pressing probe and if I or one of the kids would touch his feet\/bum he would reposition. \u00a0I could tell he just wanted his space and I had visions of him coming out of my belly and making a huuuuge stretch and never wanting to be squished again.<\/p>\n<p>I was partially right. \u00a0While there was no big dramatic stretch and he\u00a0<em>loves<\/em> to be snuggled close and doesn&#8217;t mind being in his car seat or buggy bassinet, he also loves to wiggle and squirm and kick and reach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9349 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush.jpg\" alt=\"smush\" width=\"1420\" height=\"1292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush.jpg 1420w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush-600x546.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush-275x250.jpg 275w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush-1024x932.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/smush-1000x910.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1420px) 100vw, 1420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had also predicted that he wouldn&#8217;t be one for swaddling and aside from a few nights around 3-7 days, I haven&#8217;t swaddled him. \u00a0Whereas all my other kids needed that tight wrap to feel cozy at night (Doodle for almost a year), Pipsqueak is perfectly content being laid down as is in his bed and being free to sprawl out, wiggle, grunt and attack his hands all night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9347 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2032\" height=\"1384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping.jpg 2032w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping-600x409.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping-367x250.jpg 367w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping-1024x697.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/p-sleeping-1000x681.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2032px) 100vw, 2032px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also always held out hope that he would be our &#8220;golden&#8221; child, the easy-going and happy one which we desperately need after our high-strung Sugarplum and Mr. Particular Doodle and so far he seems to be headed that way. \u00a0So long as he&#8217;s fed, rested and dry, he&#8217;s a happy guy. \u00a0He&#8217;ll happily lay on the floor and flail, watching the world (or ceiling fan) go by. \u00a0Or sit in his Bumbo chair next to sisters while they do their work. \u00a0Or lay on his changing table next to my desk while I work.<\/p>\n<p>He is the most social baby I&#8217;ve ever known.
