Today is my first day as a full time, stay at home, mom of 3.\u00a0 We were very fortunate to have my parents in town for the past 6 weeks to help with the girls.\u00a0 They arrived just before my full-term date at 37 weeks and stayed until just after what would have been my 42nd<\/sup> week.\u00a0 We needed extra help with the girls during our homebirth so we were lucky my parents were able to come hang out and wait with us for Doodle’s arrival.<\/p>\n

Well, they left early this morning and I am now on my own!\u00a0 Not only is it my first day without help, but hubby had to make the airport run and I was left having to take Honeybun\u00a0to school.\u00a0 So, what\u2019s a mommy to do?\u00a0 Take all 3 kids out to breakfast of course!\u00a0 No easing into it for this mommy!<\/p>\n

I brought up the idea of breakfast out days ago, assuming I would be able to put Doodle and Sugarplum in the buggy and walk to breakfast and then to school.\u00a0 I forgot that Florida has now entered the rainy season.\u00a0 So in the car we went.\u00a0 Three car seats, 3 times.<\/p>\n

I really miss the ease of going out with kids in Dublin.\u00a0 I would gather everything we needed for our outing and load it into the buggy which we kept in the front sitting room (which we used as a buggy and bike storage room).\u00a0 Then I would gather the girls, get them into their coats and into the buggy and we would roll out the front door and head to our destination.<\/p>\n

The US way of getting out of the house is a lot harder.\u00a0 I have to load Doodle into his car seat (it\u2019s too hot to leave in the car), carry him and all his gear (who knew such a tiny little guy would require so much stuff!) and herd the girls out to the car.\u00a0 It is quite the hassle.\u00a0 Then I have to open the door for Sugarplum, load Doodle and his gear and buckle both girls in.\u00a0 Whew!\u00a0 By this point I\u2019m absolutely exhausted and don\u2019t even want to do what I had set out to do.<\/p>\n

While I love the convenience of a car for going farther places and not having to get soaked in the rain, sometimes it is just much easier to load the buggy and walk places.\u00a0 That is exactly why we moved into this house, there is so much walking distance but unfortunately we\u2019ll be at the mercy of the rainy season for the next few months.<\/p>\n
