{"id":8585,"date":"2015-06-23T16:03:58","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T20:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=8585"},"modified":"2015-06-23T16:03:58","modified_gmt":"2015-06-23T20:03:58","slug":"just-who-they-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/23\/just-who-they-are\/","title":{"rendered":"Just Who They Are"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve now been in Dublin two whole days and have knocked a lot off of my initial &#8220;<a title=\"Top Ten Must Dos in Dublin\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/15\/top-ten-must-dos-in-dublin\/\">Must Do<\/a>&#8221; list (follow me on <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/beyondmommying\/\">Instagram<\/a> to keep up with all our doings!)\u00a0 And while I can&#8217;t say we&#8217;ve done a lot of cultural things nor learned a whole lot (the obvious choice for our <a title=\"A European Learning Adventure\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/03\/a-european-learning-adventure\/\">European country this week<\/a>), I have really enjoyed the time back in our former home with my kids.\u00a0 And <em>I&#8217;ve<\/em> actually learned a lot about <em>them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve learned that Sugarplum has grown up a lot in the past few months.\u00a0 She is constantly asking very inquisitive questions and works really hard to think about and answer all the questions I ask them.\u00a0 She is also much more cooperative and has spent most of the time walking without whining even though I have the double buggy just in case (she only asked this morning right before throwing up all over the table soon after arriving at our breakfast destination, my fault for making her wait so long to eat).\u00a0 She&#8217;s only had one meltdown which was on the way back to the hotel tonight and she dropped her used train ticket and I refused to go back.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve learned that Honeybun hasn&#8217;t changed much at all.\u00a0 While she is physically much more grown up, she is still the way she&#8217;s always been, stubborn and snotty and purposefully mean.\u00a0 She is helpful when she wants to be and downright nasty when she doesn&#8217;t.\u00a0\u00a0She s<em>till <\/em>doesn&#8217;t like walking and will let me know every second she can.\u00a0 She likes being the biggest but doesn&#8217;t like the responsibility of it though she is constantly trying to boss everyone around.\u00a0 She is hot and cold, here and there, she is my Honeybun!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve learned that Doodle is starting to settle down.\u00a0 I noticed before our trip that his has mellowed and is not nearly as particular and moody as he once was but it has been even more apparent on this trip.\u00a0 He no longer screams for food as soon as we sit at restaurants, he is content coloring with his sisters.\u00a0 He isn&#8217;t screaming &#8220;Nnnnno!&#8221; at me nearly as much as he was a week ago and is starting to use more words (one of his recent additions is &#8220;whisper&#8221; which he says with his finger to his mouth but still with\u00a0the scream voice he uses for everything else). He is horribly curios and distractible and getting 5 feet down the road can take 5 minutes but he is also perfectly content riding along in the buggy screaming &#8220;bus!&#8221; and &#8220;choo-choo&#8221; every other second.\u00a0 And he is starting to smile for the camera (when he wants to be in a picture) which is the coolest thing!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve learned that I have really awesome kids.\u00a0 That they are generally cooperative and easy to get along with and they amazingly get along with each other most of the time.\u00a0 Undertaking a 29 hour trip and 3 days alone with three young children in a foreign city is certainly not for the faint of heart but I took it on because I knew we&#8217;d survive and it would be an awesome experience.<\/p>\n<p>After waiting an unusually long time for our initial\u00a0plane in Orlando without screens, books, toys, anything (they kept announcing we&#8217;d be boarding any second so we made the kids stay packed up)\u00a0the woman who was sitting near us in the terminal stopped during boarding to tell me &#8220;You have the best behaved children I have ever seen.&#8221;\u00a0 I wholeheartedly said &#8220;thank you so much!&#8221;\u00a0 But sometimes I want to say &#8220;I know&#8221; not because I&#8217;m cocky or because I&#8217;m an awesome mom but because I&#8217;m lucky.\u00a0 I really do have great kids and I couldn&#8217;t be more excited for the rest of our trip (both this one and the lifelong one we have ahead of us!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(And I&#8217;ve also learned I have no way to get any of the amazing pictures I&#8217;ve taken off my camera and onto any of the myriad phones, tablets and computers\u00a0I have with me, WAH!!!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve now been in Dublin two whole days and have knocked a lot off of my initial &#8220;Must Do&#8221; list (follow me on Instagram to keep up with all our doings!)\u00a0 And while I can&#8217;t say we&#8217;ve done a lot of cultural things nor learned a whole lot (the obvious choice for our European country [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13,12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8585","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-a-mommys-life","category-tiny-travellers"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8585","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8585"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8585\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":8587,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8585\/revisions\/8587"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8585"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8585"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8585"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
