daddy and I all loaded up and headed to the pediatrician. Our midwife did a full check on him and he looked good but we also wanted to get him in to see the “baby doctor” and didn’t want to wait until after the weekend in case there was something we missed at birth.

Tiny little Doodle was like a celebrity in the office. The staff was enthralled with such a new little guy and everyone kept reminding us they never get to see babies in the office until they’re 4 or 5 days old. Our 1 day old was definitely a novelty!

Poor Doodle had to endure some of the state mandated newborn screening requirements we missed by not being at the hospital such as a heel prick blood test (which poor dude had to endure twice because he was too wiggly and got blood in the wrong places on the paper) and a hearing test. Luckily, though, no vaccinations yet and Doodle checked out with no concerns.

<a has developed a normal newborn rash but much worse than I think most babies get. Poor baby was all scratched up on his face when he was born due to his outrageously long fingernails which he used to attack himself while in my tummy. The scratches along with the rash have left him with welts all over his face and eyes as well as a few bumps on his arms, legs, head, neck and even in his ears. Nothing to be concerned about but the doctor (whom we’ve seen since Honeybun was 5 days old and whom I absolutely adore) did say that medical students would have loved to check baby Doodle out with all the different types of rash and welts he had. Umm…Thank you?

When most new babies and mommies are still
