{"id":7210,"date":"2015-02-11T07:56:07","date_gmt":"2015-02-11T12:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=7210"},"modified":"2015-02-11T07:56:07","modified_gmt":"2015-02-11T12:56:07","slug":"quick-protein-punch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/11\/quick-protein-punch\/","title":{"rendered":"A Quick Protein Punch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things I learned during my first trimester with Doodle as I struggled with my weird style of morning sickness was the power of regular eating. \u00a0The first few weeks I relied on sugar to make myself feel better. \u00a0When I would start feeling shaky and off, I would pop some fruit snacks. \u00a0When I walked to pick Honeybun up from school I would throw a Cherry 7Up in the bottom of my buggy just in case I started feeling bad while out.<\/p>\n<p>But what I learned over the weeks was while the sugar helped initially, it didn&#8217;t last long. \u00a0It got me through whatever task I needed to complete (or got me home) but the only thing that really took the edge off for an extended time was a full meal.<\/p>\n<p>This pregnancy I immediately started going towards protein when I was started feeling poorly and it has made a huge difference! \u00a0The protein not only lasts longer than the sugar, it works better. \u00a0But it&#8217;s certainly not easier. \u00a0It&#8217;s easy to grab some candy or a sugar-filled soda. \u00a0It&#8217;s not so easy to find quick and easy protein (other than protein bars which I try to limit since I don&#8217;t like the texture of the protein blends nor do I like over consuming all the other &#8220;stuff&#8221; in them).<\/p>\n<p>So here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been able to do to get a quick protein punch when I don&#8217;t have the time or feel well enough to prepare something:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peanut butter<\/strong> (8g protein in 2 tablespoons). \u00a0I have it with crackers, apples or any other delivery device I can get my hands on (I will not confirm nor deny eating peanut butter on a spoon&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hard boiled eggs<\/strong> (6g in one large). \u00a0Boil a few eggs, peel them when you feel well and grab one when you need it (also great for hungry toddlers who need a quick snack but can&#8217;t have yogurt or cheese!)<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-7213\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-1024x664.jpg\" alt=\"SONY DSC\" width=\"404\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-1024x664.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-600x389.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-385x250.jpg 385w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-1000x648.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290-390x253.jpg 390w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC03619-e1423659283290.jpg 1710w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 404px) 100vw, 404px\" \/>Cheese<\/strong> (5-8g per 1 oz slice depending on type). Nothing is easier than stuffing your mouth with cheese!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cottage Cheese<\/strong> (13g in 4oz). \u00a0Scoop in a bowl, scoop it in your mouth!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yogurt<\/strong> (6g in a container of regular yogurt, 14oz in a container of Greek). \u00a0No bowl necessary, simply open and shovel!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nuts<\/strong> (4-6g per oz depending on type, almonds, brazil nuts, cashews and walnuts are the highest). \u00a0Grab a handful or bowlful and enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fully cooked breakfast sausage<\/strong> (10-12g per serving). \u00a0These are my favorite right now, while not as grab and go as other options, most only take 30-45 seconds in the microwave and you&#8217;re ready to eat!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things I learned during my first trimester with Doodle as I struggled with my weird style of morning sickness was the power of regular eating. \u00a0The first few weeks I relied on sugar to make myself feel better. \u00a0When I would start feeling shaky and off, I would pop some fruit snacks.
