{"id":7184,"date":"2015-02-23T05:32:12","date_gmt":"2015-02-23T10:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=7184"},"modified":"2015-02-23T05:35:37","modified_gmt":"2015-02-23T10:35:37","slug":"dont-screw-nap-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/23\/dont-screw-nap-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t Screw with my Nap Time!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By far, my favorite part of the day is nap time. \u00a0Not because I don&#8217;t enjoy being with my children but because it is the only quiet, alone time I get in life. \u00a0Ever.<\/p>\n<p>And my biggest pet peeve by far in life is anyone or anything who prematurely ends my nap time. \u00a0My children need their sleep. \u00a0I need my quiet time. \u00a0We NEED nap time. \u00a0Every day. \u00a0Without interruption. \u00a0Without it being cut short. \u00a0Every.Single.Day.<\/p>\n<p>When Doodle was born, we got rid of our landscapers and hubby started doing the yard work. \u00a0It was for a few reasons, one being the cost savings. \u00a0But more importantly was the fact that they ALWAYS came at nap time. \u00a015 minutes after\u00a0laying\u00a0the girls down. \u00a0Except they weren&#8217;t on a schedule. \u00a0It wasn&#8217;t like they always came on Tuesday and I could plan ahead. \u00a0Nor was it always at the same time each visit. \u00a0My kids have always laid down for nap some time between 1 and 3, we&#8217;ve never had a strict schedule. \u00a0Yet those landscapers knew exactly when I laid my girls down and decided that was the optimal time to come.<\/p>\n<p>The worst part, though, was that it wasn&#8217;t just a quick lawn mowing around the house. \u00a0It was the lawnmower back and forth outside the girls&#8217; windows. \u00a0Followed by the weed whacker. \u00a0Followed by the edger. \u00a0Followed by the leaf blower. \u00a0It was ridiculous and\u00a0ruined more than one nap time.<\/p>\n<p>And then there&#8217;s the mail lady, the glorious, inconsiderate, flipping enraging mail lady. \u00a0The UPS guy and the FedEx guy gently knock on the door when leaving a package. \u00a0It&#8217;s seriously awesome\u00a0and the way it should be. \u00a0But the mail lady? \u00a0She can&#8217;t go for a simple knock. \u00a0Oh no, she has to do the &#8220;rap-rap-rap&#8221; on the door AND a\u00a0<em>double<\/em> doorbell ring. \u00a0Are you kidding me? \u00a0(and I assure you, I am not kidding. \u00a0As much as I love getting mail, our horrid mail lady has ruined more than one nap time).<\/p>\n<p>And I can&#8217;t tell you how many nap times have been ruined by other impatient doorbell ringers like the &#8220;word of God&#8221; sharers and tree trimmers that are &#8220;in the neighborhood&#8221; who can&#8217;t just knock and leave when I choose to ignore them but insist on ringing the bell multiple times just to make sure I&#8217;m not interested in their services (and I&#8217;m not. \u00a0Ever.)<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0the phone. \u00a0We are those weird people who still have a land line (hubby&#8217;s irrational fear of hurricane outages) yet the only calls we get are spam. \u00a0But that&#8217;s not the worst of it, the worst is that my phone is somehow silent other than between the hours of 1 and 6 in the afternoon when people insist on calling me, seemingly, just to wake my children up.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line: nap time is precious for all parents, caregivers and little ones, please don&#8217;t screw with it!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0055.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_0055.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0055.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By far, my favorite part of the day is nap time. \u00a0Not because I don&#8217;t enjoy being with my children but because it is the only quiet, alone time I get in life. \u00a0Ever.
