Last year Sugarplum and I had a fantastic Valentine’s party with yummy snacks<\/a> and\u00a0fun toddler crafts<\/a>. \u00a0We decided to try again this year with a new homeschool group I set up and while I didn’t go all out with the snacks this time and no one ended up coming, the girls and I still had fun making Valentine’s crafts on our own to decorate our home with.<\/p>\n

Heart Garland<\/h2>\n

We made this awesome yarn heart garland when we were visiting my family this fall and hung it at my grandmother’s memorial service and now it is the perfect adornment for our home at Valentine’s Day!<\/p>\n

\"SONY<\/a>Start by making a glue mixture by heating cornstarch in water until it the cornstarch is dissolved and clear and it is a pasty consistency and let cool to a touchable temperature.<\/p>\n

\"SONYLay out shaped cookie cutters onto waxed paper.<\/p>\n

Cut the yarn into long pieces and dip into the cornstarch paste.<\/p>\n

Wipe off the excess paste and fill in the cookie cutters with the yarn.<\/p>\n

Let the shapes dry, removing cookie cutters and flipping over when the top side is dry.<\/p>\n

When the shapes are completely dry, thread a ribbon through and they’re ready to hang!<\/p>\n

Love Bug Butterflies<\/h2>\n

Start by cutting a paper towel tube in half.<\/p>\n

Cover the tube with paper (or paint it).\"SONY<\/a><\/p>\n

Cut two large hearts and glue on the back of tube.
\n<\/a>\"SONY<\/a><\/p>\n

Glue on two googly eyes and draw a mouth if you’d like.<\/p>\n

Shape a pipecleaner into antennae and glue or tape onto tube (Honeybun wanted hers in the back by the wings and Sugarplum wanted hers in front by the eyes).<\/p>\n

Heart Shaped Animal Masks<\/h2>\n

I found a bunch of great ideas for using hearts to make animal shapes on Crafty Morning<\/a>, Lady Bugs and Lattes<\/a>\u00a0and Housing a Forest<\/a>\u00a0and took it a step farther and had the girls make masks.<\/p>\n

Honeybun chose to make a Bunny and Sugarplum chose to make an Elephant and they make the cutest little Valentine’s!\"\"<\/p>\n
