Still no baby.\u00a0 While my body is clearly preparing, who knows how much longer it will be (Hours?\u00a0 Days?\u00a0 Weeks?!?).\u00a0 While I\u2019m more than ready, the girls are super excited too.\u00a0 Yesterday morning I got Honeybun\u00a0from her room much to her disappointment \u201cMommy, I thought the baby was going to come in the night time.\u201d And this morning Sugarplum approached me and asked \u201cMommy, is the baby still in your tummy?\u201d\u00a0 When I asked what she thought she replied \u201cThat\u2019s a big baby in your tummy!\u201d and then proceeded to dance the baby and give the baby \u201cbig hugs!\u201d for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

We have spent the past 31 weeks talking to the girls all about lots of different baby related things.\u00a0 What the baby looks like at each week in my tummy, what it\u2019s doing, how big it is in my tummy, what\u2019s going to happen when I go into labor, how the baby is actually going to get out of my tummy and what most babies are like when they are new.\u00a0 We\u2019ve read books, watched videos and talked, a lot.\u00a0 But it\u2019s always been me talking and explaining or quizzing them on what I\u2019ve already told them.<\/p>\n

Both girls WANT a sister but have recently been talking about how they THINK it\u2019s a boy.\u00a0 I\u2019m hoping their recent revelation will prevent any disappointment with the outcome either way.\u00a0 They seem to have processed the idea of both and are comfortable with both.<\/p>\n

\"baby\"<\/a>\u00a0A few nights ago I decided to give them the chance to share what they think.\u00a0 During our nightly journal time (see\u00a0“Our Family Journal”<\/a>) I asked the girls to each draw a picture of what they thought the baby would look like (this is actually Sugarplum’s first person drawing–The pink one on top).<\/span><\/p>\n

Last night I asked them to tell me what they thought the baby would be like.<\/p>\n

Sugarplum responded:\u00a0\u201cA boy.\u00a0 The baby gonna say \u2018bah, bah, bah!\u2019\u00a0 The baby\u2019s gonna look like a sheep lovey.\u201d (she was in a silly mood!)<\/p>\n

Honeybun\u00a0responded:\u00a0\u201cI think it\u2019s gonna cry.\u00a0 It\u2019s gonna have milk a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which Sugarplum had to add to hers:\u00a0\u201cThe baby gonna cry.\u201d<\/p>\n

They still have some misconceptions and confusion, which is expected.\u00a0 Sugarplum got out our push\/riding toy the other day and my mom explained that toy is for the baby and it helped Honeybun\u00a0learn to walk so now Sugarplum thinks the baby is going to be walking around with the push toy right away. \u00a0Honeybun\u00a0also took all of what she decided were \u201ctoo small toys\u201d and put them in a special box so the baby can\u2019t get them and choke.\u00a0 She got very upset when we tried to explain to her the baby won\u2019t be moving around for a while so it\u2019s ok to have the small toys out for playing still.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
