Each day we start school with a journal entry. \u00a0We use our journal time as a free writing exercise. \u00a0I give the girls a topic to write about (except on Free For All Friday when they can choose their own topic) and they write and draw whatever they want. \u00a0I don’t place time or length restrictions on them, I just allow them to work until they feel their work is complete.<\/p>\n

These are some of the my favorites from Honeybun’s\u00a0first semester of homeschooling:<\/p>\n

\"SONY<\/a>I am excited to do it. \u00a0I never did it before. \u00a0I want to do math. \u00a0And I want to do letters. \u00a0And science.<\/strong> (on starting homeschool)<\/p>\n

We are making a craft for Grandma and Grandma because their mommy died we are making some flowers!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SONY<\/a>If I could be any animal I would be a cat. \u00a0I would eat fish and grass. \u00a0I would play with other cats. \u00a0I would say meow and meow. \u00a0I would eat with other cats we would eat fish.<\/strong>
\n\"SONY<\/a>We are writing about being good listeners. \u00a0I hit my brother in the face today and I promise not o do it again ever ever again I promise.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SONY<\/a>I am writing a life cycle about a human.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. First he start like a baby<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Next he is a kid<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Then he is a teenager<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Finally he is adult<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Last he is a Grampa<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    (this was a Free for all Friday entry!)<\/p>\n

    \"SONYT<\/strong><\/a>urkeys Turkey don’t have fur they have feathers and if you ever see a turkey you could see a whole bunch and they run really fast.<\/strong>\"SONY<\/a>I think a present is filled with love and hope and joy. \u00a0I think they are special and sweet and filled with happiness.<\/strong> \u00a0(another Free for All Friday entry)<\/p>\n

    Understandably, Sugarplum’s entries are more pictures and less words, but she’s come a long way!<\/p>\n
