Furry Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before Honeybun, hubby and I had two other babies.\u00a0 Monk and Frank: our kitty babies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-658 alignright\" style=\"line-height: 1.7;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/monk-215x300.jpg\" alt=\"EPSON MFP image\" width=\"151\" height=\"210\" \/><span style=\"line-height: 1.7;\">We acquired Monk (short for Monkey though her proper name is Lexie) our senior year of college.\u00a0 One of hubby\u2019s fraternity brothers had brought her back to school with him but was unable to keep her in his on-campus apartment.\u00a0 Since hubby and I were living off campus we took her to help him out.\u00a0 She was just a tiny little thing (her head smaller than the end of my pointe shoes) and we fell in love immediately.\u00a0 Obviously, we never gave her back and she has since lived with us in 2 different countries, 3 different states and in 9 different houses.\u00a0 She\u2019s a feisty little booger who has never been too affectionate unless it\u2019s on her terms!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When I was pregnant with Honeybun,\u00a0Monk was not a fan of me, especially at the end.\u00a0 She would not come near me and sometimes even hissed if I tried to approach her.\u00a0 She did fine with me when I was pregnant with Sugarplum and has been extra protective this pregnancy though I think as we get closer to D-Day (deliver day, that is), she is starting to act a little funny.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-633 alignleft\" style=\"line-height: 1.7;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSC00184\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC00184.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Monk hated the girls at first but is growing tolerant of them.\u00a0 She sometimes even lets Honeybun\u00a0and Sugarplum gently pet her on the head if they are extra special quiet and don\u2019t move too suddenly.\u00a0 Mostly though she\u2019s still just a mommy and daddy\u2019s girl, she\u2019s very territorial and often hisses and swats at visitors.\u00a0 It takes a long time for her to get used to people and doesn\u2019t really accept lovings from anyone but hubby and me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-659 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"EPSON MFP image\" width=\"148\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>Our younger cat, Frank (short for Franklin) was a rescue cat we got while living in Oklahoma.\u00a0 The lady we adopted him from told us he would never amount too much and would probably just hide all the time.\u00a0 Turns out he is the most affectionate cat I\u2019ve ever known though he is still wary of strangers.\u00a0 Sometimes if our guests are sitting down he will make an appearance after a few hours (once he\u2019s more familiar with the voices) and will take nice touches from nearly anybody once he\u2019s comfortable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-belly.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-665 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-belly-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"frank belly\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-belly-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-belly-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/frank-belly.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a>Pregnancy has never changed Frank, he has remained a solid fan of nice touches though he has been much more weary of the girls than Monk.\u00a0 He spent most of Honeybun&#8217;s\u00a0babyhood hiding and just when he got used to her we moved to Dublin.\u00a0 Frank and Monk had to be \u201cquarantined\u201d in the states for 6 months before joining us in Ireland so we waited to have them brought over until after Sugarplum was born.\u00a0 All the progress we made with Honeybun\u00a0was ruined and Frank went back into hiding.\u00a0 He is now tolerant of the girls and will gladly take nice touches when they are calm and quiet.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell what reaction baby #3 will have on the cats but I hope they continue to be a
