The girls’ cute little hand turkeys<\/a> from our first Thanksgiving in Ireland are still some of my favorite kid-made treasures.<\/p>\n

This year I decided to try a new method of hand AND foot turkeys I found on Pinterest since I love doing things that use the kids’ foot and handprints to show their growth (like our HANDmade Mother’s Day Bouquets<\/a>, Handprint Sheep<\/a>, Pots of Gold<\/a>, Santa ornaments<\/a>, and a few others I haven’t shared yet!)<\/p>\n

I sometimes think I should start a “craft fail” blog like the recipe fail one a friend in Dublin has because our crafts never come out quite as cute as the original idea BUT \u00a0I can’t complain about the way they look when\u00a0they’re almost entirely kid made and I’m always proud of my girls’ efforts and products because it is, after all, about the process <\/a>and family time more than anything!<\/p>\n

For this year’s turkeys we used feet for the body and hands for the feathers. \u00a0I had the girls cut and trace theirs out whereas I painted and pressed Doodle’s onto a canvas board.<\/p>\n

Doodle’s went something like this:<\/p>\n

\"SONY<\/a> \"SONY<\/a>\"SONY<\/a>Not the best looking\u00a0turkey I’ve ever seen but not too bad doing it by myself on a wiggly 18 month old with 1\/2 dried up paint, right? (right…?)<\/p>\n

\"SONY\"SONY<\/a>The girls started by tracing their prints and cutting them out. \u00a0I stacked up the multiple colors of paper and stapled them together so they only had to cut once (Sugarplum is still working on her scissoring skills!):<\/p>\n

We made the girls’ into “thankful” turkeys and I had them write “I am thankful for” on the body and all the things they are thankful for on the hands. \u00a0Then we taped the feathers (hands) onto the bodies (feet) and Honeybun added a face to hers.<\/p>\n

We learned through this process that it would have been better to tape it all together before writing on it as we had to get a little creative with the taping so the words could be seen. \u00a0I also wasn’t paying attention and Sugarplum wrote on her foot upside down. \u00a0But they still got the point, they thought about what they were thankful for and had a little fun arts and crafts time!<\/p>\n
