My Mommy and my Mommy-in-law both lost their own mommies<\/a> this summer. \u00a0My girls were very saddened and made them cards which, in our true family style, never got mailed. \u00a0So instead of sending them flowers, I decided to have the girls make them handmade flower arrangements. \u00a0It was a project that started as a small idea but blossomed into a huge project!<\/p>\n

We started by using sparkly green pipe cleaners and flowers left from Honeybun’s 100 Days of School shirt to make the flowers.<\/p>\n

I then had the girls make pinch pots to put the flowers in. \u00a0We made our own clay which air hardens (recipe here<\/a>) and then the girls made their pots. \u00a0They took a few days to dry in our humid South Florida environment (I flipped them over after 2 days so the bottoms could dry out as well).<\/p>\n

Once dry, the girls painted their pots with tempura paint.<\/p>\n

We then bought photo archive boxes to put their creations in (I wanted to use small shoe boxes but didn’t have any!) \u00a0I glued the flowers into the pots and the pots onto the bottom of the boxes and they were beautiful, but something was missing!<\/p>\n

The boxes were too big so we decided to make coffee filter butterflies <\/a>similar to the ones Sugarplum made at Easter time and it was perfect! \u00a0We shipped off the box for Hubby’s Mommy and hand delivered the one for my Mommy (shipping is ridiculously expensive!) \u00a0I hope that every time our mommies see these beautiful creations they can feel the love we have for them and can sense our hugs wrapping them up in their times of sadness.<\/p>\n
