{"id":576,"date":"2013-03-29T08:30:40","date_gmt":"2013-03-29T12:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=576"},"modified":"2013-12-19T20:58:03","modified_gmt":"2013-12-20T01:58:03","slug":"struggle-for-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/29\/struggle-for-space\/","title":{"rendered":"Struggle for Space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It seems like all I do lately is fight for space with this baby.\u00a0 As soon as I get comfortable s\/he gets uncomfortable and has to find a new place to be happy.\u00a0 The problem isn\u2019t that the baby moves around but rather the \u201cnew place\u201d s\/he finds is usually up under my ribs which is sometimes terribly painful for me causing me to change position and the battle begins again.\u00a0 All night long we go through this struggle.<\/p>\n<p>It also doesn\u2019t help that I can feel the relaxin (a hormone secreted during pregnancy which helps to relax the muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons to prepare for getting baby out) raging through my body so while I\u2019m more flexible through my hips and pelvis, I also get much more sore.\u00a0 Just turning from one side to the other (while not as dramatic as I remember with Sugarplum\u2014yet) often causes my pelvic joint to pop which is sometimes painful and startles me.\u00a0 Basically, once I get to a comfy place I would like to just stay there but baby disagrees and we have yet to find a mutually comfy place.<\/p>\n<p>I usually spend a little time each morning before getting out of bed assessing baby\u2019s position.\u00a0 Baby likes to curl up high in my belly while I sleep so this is usually the only time I can actually feel his\/her head (Honeybun\u00a0had the same tendency which resulted in my unnecessary augmentation of labor the first time).\u00a0 What I have learned is that not only is his\/her head enormous but this baby is LONG!\u00a0 The baby\u2019s head to rump reaches from my pelvic bone to my ribs diagonally and sometimes I feel the feet on the complete other side of my belly.\u00a0 Pretty sure we\u2019re getting a big headed, super tall little bundle.<\/p>\n<p>I also hope that the supersize of this baby and the pressure I\u2019m already feeling my pelvis (baby\u2019s thankfully been head down for at least 10 weeks\u2014other than one morning when s\/he was transverse) will mean an earlier full-term delivery.\u00a0 Not just because of the discomfort, but I have lots of other reasons earlier would be better.\u00a0 Most importantly the fact that I start back to teaching 4 weeks after my due date so every extra day I get to bond and establish a good milk supply, etc. with this little bundle will be extra helpful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems like all I do lately is fight for space with this baby.\u00a0 As soon as I get comfortable s\/he gets uncomfortable and has to find a new place to be happy.\u00a0 The problem isn\u2019t that the baby moves around but rather the \u201cnew place\u201d s\/he finds is usually up under my ribs which [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13,8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-576","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-a-mommys-life","category-baby-business"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/576","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=576"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/576\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2420,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/576\/revisions\/2420"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=576"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=576"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=576"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
