Feed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But being in Ireland with Sugarplum, the selection of jarred food wasn\u2019t as great plus I had more time to prepare food at home (which I didn\u2019t have with Honeybun while working 4 jobs).\u00a0 I painstakingly homemade nearly all of Sugaprlum\u2019s food.\u00a0 Prepping her food looked something like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5324 alignleft\" alt=\"SONY DSC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-300x199.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-376x250.jpg 376w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-1000x664.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/DSC01665-390x259.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a>Peel, chunk, cook, puree in the blender, spoon into ice cube trays, freeze, remove from ice cube trays (so I could use them for the next food). Then there was all the clean-up of the extra supplies.<\/p>\n<p>When it was time to feed her I then had to microwave a few cubes, stir, heat, stir, heat, stir. \u00a0\u00a0Get it all melted but don\u2019t get it too hot! \u00a0Then sit with the bowl and spoon and painstakingly feed her and her crazy lizard tongue.<\/p>\n<p>While going straight to finger foods has been great and made life a lot easier and happier for the whole family, there are some negatives to the process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5333\" alt=\"wpid-IMAG0570.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-179x300.jpg\" width=\"179\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-179x300.jpg 179w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-300x502.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-600x1003.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-150x250.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-612x1024.jpg 612w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570-1000x1672.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/wpid-IMAG0570.jpg 1952w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 179px) 100vw, 179px\" \/><\/a>I have to be on top of food prep and have fresh stuff around constantly.\u00a0 No hoarding jars or picking up a jar when out running around.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s messy in a different way.\u00a0 While it\u2019s not usually all over Doodle\u2019s face at the end of the meal, it is often all over the floor, the highchair and sometimes me!<\/li>\n<li>He doesn\u2019t get the spoon.\u00a0 The few times I have tried to spoon feed him (only when I want him clean but want him to eat something not pick-up-able like yogurt) have been a disaster, he just doesn\u2019t really get it!<\/li>\n<li>He\u2019s only mildly interested in using utensils.\u00a0 Sometimes he\u2019ll act like he wants a fork and will try to use it but not very often.\u00a0 The few times I\u2019ve given him something to spoon himself he\u2019ll dip once or twice and then go at it fist first.\u00a0 But only time will tell if it\u2019s really a problem!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Doodle started solids, I started keeping fruits and vegetables cut up and ready to eat in the freezer.\u00a0 I made squash risotto and threw some into the freezer for Doodle to have another time and it reminded me why I chose to skip spoon-feeding altogether.
