{"id":4035,"date":"2014-04-17T09:56:39","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T13:56:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=4035"},"modified":"2014-04-17T09:56:39","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T13:56:39","slug":"update-its-a-wrap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2014\/04\/17\/update-its-a-wrap\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: It&#8217;s a Wrap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Doodle will be 1 in three weeks (I&#8217;d rather not talk about it&#8230;) and to most everyone&#8217;s surprise, including mine, we are still swaddling him at nap and bedtime. \u00a0While we don&#8217;t do the supertight newborn swaddle anymore, we do still wrap him up.<\/p>\n<p>It has become part of his routine and signals to him that it&#8217;s time to sleep (in addition to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/09\/abcs-of-baby-sleep\/\">lights and sounds machine<\/a>). \u00a0Now I wrap him however he lays when I put him down. \u00a0Usually this is with his right arm flailed up by his head and his left across his chest. \u00a0Though, sometimes if he is really unruly, I&#8217;ll wrap both arms across his chest so he feels secured but can easily get them out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4039\" alt=\"SONY DSC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-376x250.jpg 376w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-1000x664.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC00709-390x259.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I don&#8217;t know when we&#8217;ll officially stop because for now it&#8217;s working. \u00a0Sometimes he giggles in delight when I lay out the blanket before I lay him down and he&#8217;ll even make a dive for the bed when I catch him at the right amount of tired. \u00a0Even in the middle of the night, hubby can go in wrap him up, turn on the &#8220;fishies&#8221; and he will go back to sleep. \u00a0Why mess with what works?
