{"id":3108,"date":"2014-02-10T07:47:19","date_gmt":"2014-02-10T12:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=3108"},"modified":"2016-01-18T20:38:35","modified_gmt":"2016-01-19T01:38:35","slug":"one-of-a-kind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2014\/02\/10\/one-of-a-kind\/","title":{"rendered":"One of a Kind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve touched on it briefly before, the bond between Sugarplum and I, and yesterday (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2014\/02\/09\/my-dance-with-my-sugarplum\/\">\u201cMy Dance with my Sugarplum\u201d<\/a>) made me really think about it.\u00a0 I\u2019ve always thought that the closeness we have and the love I have for her that is different from the love I have for my other children developed over time as we struggled through he infancy (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/02\/the-scream-heard-around-the-neighborhood\/\">\u201cThe Scream Heard Around the Neighborhood.\u201d<\/a>)\u00a0 But I realized yesterday that it\u2019s always been there, before the screaming, before the fits, before the worry, before it all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3119 alignleft\" alt=\"DSC03189\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC03189-390x293.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>It started the moment I first saw her.\u00a0 I vividly remember scooping her out of the water after she was born and pulling her to my chest, saying \u201cmy baby, my baby!\u00a0 I love, love, love, love, love you!\u201d And I did.\u00a0 And I have.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not that I love her more than Honeybun and Doodle, because I don\u2019t.\u00a0 It\u2019s that I love her differently.\u00a0 I truly love each of my children equally but in their own, special way yet there is something unexplainable with Sugarplum.\u00a0 Perhaps it truly did start in those first moments, when maybe we were both taken by surprise by her unexpectedly speedy arrival (which I liken to her shooting out of me like a cannon).<\/p>\n<p>I think it is natural for people (that includes mommies) to have favorites.\u00a0 As a teacher I\u2019ve always maintained that is was fine to have favorites so long as I treat everyone the same.\u00a0 And I\u2019m not saying I have a favorite child, and I\u2019m definitely not saying it\u2019s Sugarplum, because honestly, a lot of the time she pushes me to the edge (like yesterday).\u00a0 It may not be more than my other two, but it is definitely more intense.<\/p>\n<p>She pushes me to a point of exhaustion;
