Honeybun just had her first \u201cfamily homework\u201d assignment: to make a turkey. She had to plan what she wanted to do and construct her own turkey. At first I was indifferent to the task but as we began working on it, I got a little irritated. 1) I don\u2019t think we need anymore homework, 2) I am a bit offended by being forced to have \u201cfamily time\u201d as if I don\u2019t spend time with my family as it is (can\u2019t they assign me mommy\u2019s night out homework instead?) and 3) we have so little altogether family time in a week, I\u2019m a bit resentful of being told how this time should be sent. So hubby got stuck doing it with her and I think it\u2019s great he did. He\u2019s not yet done any homework with her so it gave him a chance to see how she works and to spend a little quality time with her. She was actually much more creative than I expected (she\u2019s not known for her creativity and problem solving) and even added ground and a sky:<\/p>\n

It reminds me of Sugarplum\u2019s first Thanksgiving when we were in Dublin and I made hand turkeys with each of the girls.<\/p>\n

\"DSC03289Then each of her fingers with red or orange<\/p>\n

\"DSC03292I helped her gently press her hand down on a yellow paper<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"DSC03293and carefully lift her hand to keep from smudging the paint. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We then waited for the paint to dry, added googly eye and a gobble and Honeybun drew some feet:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"DSC03303Because Sugarplum was so tiny, I didn\u2019t want to try painting her tiny little clenched fist (and risking getting paint everywhere including in her mouth) so instead I just traced her hand<\/p>\n
