Truthfully, I’ve never been a really big game person. Growing up, I was always the first to quit during family game night (much to the agitation of my big sister). And while we had an old-school Atari and I had my own Game Boy, I never really got into video games, either (though I did go through a pretty intense Age of Mythology<\/a> phase in college).<\/p>\n

But my children, on the other hand, love<\/em> games. Of all kinds. Part of that is my fault, since I love to gift them games (hello educational play!) but that’s made me realize over the years that if I’m going to gift games, they need to be things that I am willing to play, too.<\/p>\n

And if games are educational, I’m more willing to put in the time to sit down and play because it’s not just fun, it’s school, too.<\/p>\n

Over the years, we’ve acquired some really great games that focus on history topics and not only are these games more enjoyable for me (if you didn’t know, I sort of love history, hence why I’ve undertaken creating the Big Ideas through History<\/a> program), but they help teach and reinforce the history topics that we’ve discussed during our school time.\"\"<\/p>\n
