{"id":1286,"date":"2013-08-10T13:29:13","date_gmt":"2013-08-10T17:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=1286"},"modified":"2013-11-22T16:33:11","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T21:33:11","slug":"country-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/10\/country-roads\/","title":{"rendered":"Country Roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong>We\u2019ve now been over a week in Colorado visiting family and friends.\u00a0 We started our trip up in the mountains where hubby got to mountain bike at one of the ski resorts and we all went to a Bluegrass and Beer festival.\u00a0 We spent the next day on my aunt and uncle\u2019s boat where the girls had a great time swimming in the cold water and driving the boats up and down the lake.\u00a0 And we\u2019ve spent the past few days seeing family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Since landing just over 7 days ago, we\u2019ve driven well over 500 miles and spent 10+ hours in the car just running around trying to see everyone (and that only includes the \u201clong\u201d drives).\u00a0 This is roughly equivalent to driving from our South Florida home to Jacksonville and back (which we did in February).\u00a0 But the big difference is it doesn\u2019t feel like anything is that far or takes too long.<\/p>\n<p>This morning we drove 23 miles to meet some of my high school dancing friends for breakfast.\u00a0 It took us just over a half hour.\u00a0 My parent\u2019s place in Florida is just over 10 miles and takes just as long.\u00a0 The childcare center I worked at when Honeybun\u00a0was a baby was exactly 5 miles door to door and it also used to take me a half hour due the <i>24<\/i> lights that were in between.\u00a0 To pass the time this morning, Honeybun\u00a0and I counted lights on our 23 mile journey: 38.<\/p>\n<p>I love how open and rural everything is in Colorado (once you get outside Denver, anyways).\u00a0 You can get places so quickly because there are few lights on the roads and the speed limits are high.\u00a0 In the area near our home in Florida there are some roads with 45 mph speed limits but it is nearly impossible to ever get up to that speed because you are constantly having to stop for lights.<\/p>\n<p>My usual hatred for driving is greatly diminished when in Colorado.\u00a0 I still prefer to walk when possible and let other people drive but I don\u2019t yell nearly as much here and Honeybun\u00a0has not yet had to tell me \u201cthat\u2019s guy\u2019s not being safe\u201d or \u201cmommy, why are people so mean to you?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve now been over a week in Colorado visiting family and friends.\u00a0 We started our trip up in the mountains where hubby got to mountain bike at one of the ski resorts and we all went to a Bluegrass and Beer festival.\u00a0 We spent the next day on my aunt and uncle\u2019s boat where the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[15,12],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1286","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-family-ties","category-tiny-travellers"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1286","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1286"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1286\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2016,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1286\/revisions\/2016"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1286"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1286"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1286"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
