Last year I did a parenting re-mix of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/12\/16\/jingle-bells-a-holiday-parenting-song\/\"><em>Jingle Bells<\/em><\/a> and as Honeybun wrapped up kindergarten, my own version of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/04\/waiting-for-summer\/\"><em>In Summer<\/em><\/a> from\u00a0<em>Frozen<\/em>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This year, as Christmas fast approaches, I&#8217;m having a hard time getting in the spirit of the holiday. I&#8217;ve noticed a s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/28\/a-shift-in-the-holiday-season\/\">hift in how I feel about the holidays<\/a>\u00a0but the 80+ degree weather is making it unusually hard to get into the feeling of Christmastime.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/21\/its-christmas-time-in-south-florida\/christmas-in-south-florida\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12117\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12117\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/christmas-in-south-florida.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"748\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/christmas-in-south-florida.png 748w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/christmas-in-south-florida-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/christmas-in-south-florida-600x385.png 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/christmas-in-south-florida-390x250.png 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"_UZe kno-fb-ctx\">\n<div>Silver bells, beach sea shells<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s Christmas time in South Florida.<br \/>\nRing-a-ling, the sunshine stings,<br \/>\nIt sure doesn&#8217;t feel like\u00a0Christmas time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Too many street lights for this suburbanite,<\/div>\n<div>Watching everyone rush around<br \/>\nIn the air there&#8217;s\u00a0only humidity.<br \/>\nMy children laugh as people pass<br \/>\nBut not a friendly face can be found.<br \/>\nAnd in every shop and store\u00a0you hear<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>People complaining, my cheer is\u00a0waning<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s Christmas time in\u00a0South Florida.<br \/>\nRing-a-ling,<br \/>\nHear&#8217;s the thing:<br \/>\nSoon it will be Christmas day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I&#8217;d rather stay home than hear people groan,<br \/>\nI want to enjoy this time<br \/>\nAs everyone obsesses over presents.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s no snow here,\u00a0not even chilly air,<br \/>\nThis is\u00a0nothing like Christmas.<br \/>\nAnd\u00a0looking around you see<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_UZe kno-fb-ctx\">\n<div class=\"_Nvn\" data-mh=\"-1\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"_Nvn\" data-mh=\"-1\">Beach sea shells,<br \/>\nTropical smells<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s Christmas time in\u00a0South Florida.<br \/>\nRing-a-ling, the sunshine stings,<br \/>\nSoon it will be Christmas day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have this thing with rewriting songs.
