I read the book, mesmerized by her style and the way she brought people and places to life. I&#8217;ve since read every single one of her books (seriously, I own every.single.one) and eagerly await the publication of new ones (which is usually years and years between!) I even used a passage from my favorite book of hers, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1618580310\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1618580310&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=beyonmommy02-20&amp;linkId=44ef76c384d09a60e408c5253eee28d2\" target=\"_blank\">A Gracious Plenty<\/a><\/em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=beyonmommy02-20&amp;l=am2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1618580310\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>, as inspiration for a dance piece I choreographed years ago. I was introduced to Ms. Lowry when I read <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0547577095\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0547577095&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=beyonmommy02-20&amp;linkId=77b730565ce59e3f8f60daba61cdfc07\" target=\"_blank\">Number the Stars<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=beyonmommy02-20&amp;l=am2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0547577095\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em> in late elementary school and also\u00a0read her most famous book,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0544336267\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0544336267&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=beyonmommy02-20&amp;linkId=723a7ef96f89bcdaf47921beabd78afc\" target=\"_blank\">The Giver<\/a><\/em>, (both Newbery Medal winning books) back in high school. Both books left such an impression on me I decided to re-read <em>The Giver<\/em>\u00a0along with the other three books in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0544340620\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0544340620&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=beyonmommy02-20&amp;linkId=abedffffdf0ae15b192280d5fbd2617c\" target=\"_blank\">The Giver Quartet<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=beyonmommy02-20&amp;l=am2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0544340620\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em> earlier this year while I spent my evenings nursing sweet Pipsqueak to sleep each night. A lover of historical fiction (the American Girls books were my favorite growing up!),\u00a0<em>City of Dreams<\/em> immediately jumped off the shelf at me. I quickly read through the book, unable to put it down at times (luckily I didn&#8217;t have two crazy boys to force me to!), transported to the time and place of America&#8217;s beginnings. I came across her novel,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0043M4RQE\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0043M4RQE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=beyonmommy02-20&amp;linkId=6bf06f5549b67dc18487019672aa8f1d\" target=\"_blank\">The Midwife<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=beyonmommy02-20&amp;l=am2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0043M4RQE\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em>, when I was reading on my Kindle before bed each night in Dublin.
