Today is a very special day in my family, it\u2019s my Daddy\u2019s birthday!\u00a0 My parents may disagree, but I feel like I\u2019ve always been a Daddy\u2019s girl.\u00a0 I, of course, love my mommy with all my heart (see “My Mommy Hero”<\/a>\u00a0for proof) but there is just something special between me and my Daddy.\u00a0 We have very similar personalities whereas my sister is much more like my mom.<\/p>\n

\"h<\/a> My Daddy is a very outdoorsy man, he loves to take long bike rides and takes a lot of pride in his impeccable garden.\u00a0 I remember growing up spending time outside with him each night after work while he did his gardening work.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t always help him (I\u2019m not really the down in the dirt type!) but I would take my dolls out in their buggy and would have picnics with them near where my Daddy was gardening.\u00a0 Sometimes I would help, though, and one summer he even let me plant my own wildflower garden.\u00a0 I really cherish the time we spent outside together in the afternoons in the summer as the sun was setting and the evening cool set in.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also remember the times we used to go bike riding together.\u00a0 My Daddy likes to take a 2 hour ride each day (though he\u2019s out of biking right now due to a recent bike accident which resulted in a broken collar bone!).\u00a0 When I was a tween I used to go riding with him on the bike trail near our home.\u00a0 That alone time with him was really special and though I\u2019m proof that you can forget how to ride a bike (just ask hubby after our honeymoon fiasco in Key West), I hope to get back into biking someday with my kids and love that my hubby takes our girls out riding and is sharing that same experience with them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sure my Daddy has his faults, just as everyone does.\u00a0 He has a short temper (especially when it comes to his meals and eating out) and lets my children watch too much TV when I\u2019m away but I could not ask for a better Grandpa for my babies.\u00a0 He will do anything for me and my children and I am so thankful to have him in our lives.\u00a0 He is a Daddy to two girls and until recently Grandpa to only girls and while he is amazing with all things girly (hubby could learn a lot!), I am so excited to see him develop a relationship with the first baby boy in his life.<\/p>\n
