\"pipsqueaks<\/a>From the first announcement<\/a> that Pipsqueak was on the way and would be our number four, he’s had a special place in the blog. He’s the only one whose entire being has been chronicled in writing.<\/p>\n

Through\u00a0the morning sickness<\/a>,\u00a0hearing his heartbeat<\/a> for the first time and seeing his cute little figure via ultrasound<\/a>, I’ve brought my readers along with our journey.<\/p>\n

I shared my struggle in trying to balance everyone’s needs from continuing to nurse Doodle while pregnant<\/a>, watching my girls grow<\/a> and still trying to squeeze in a little ME time in ballet class<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I wrote out\u00a0my fears and worries about the health of my pregnancy<\/a> and then the health of our baby<\/a> and announced that per my children’s observations we were having a racoon-froggy-footy baby<\/a> (gender to be revealed at the time of birth<\/a>) and how I prefer to keep my pregnancies to myself<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We said good-bye to our last grandparent<\/a>\u00a0as I began to feel his tiny little life inside me<\/a> and the reality of Pipsqueak never knowing any of his great-grandparents when his siblings had all known four was hard.<\/p>\n

I admitted that I loved pregnancy<\/a> but\u00a0that it’s become harder with age and my disappointment in never getting the beauty benefits<\/a> that are supposed to come with pregnancy.<\/p>\n

We moved house<\/a> and prepared our new home for our new baby<\/a>. I spent from the first weeks of his pregnancy<\/a> to the end<\/a>, anxiously awaiting his arrival as did his brother<\/a> and sisters<\/a>\u00a0as I felt completely out of control<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We spent the summer traveling, first back to Dublin<\/a> and to visit family in Massachusetts then our last hurrah at Disney where a fall nearly did me in<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I struggled through the end of pregnancy discomforts<\/a>\u00a0and anxiously awaited labor<\/a> as we tried to guess boy or girl<\/a> and come up with names<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I dealt with judgement when out with my kids<\/a> and crazy comments<\/a> while we prepared for a possible tropical storm (and I worried about having\u00a0a hurricane baby<\/a> as my due date approached).<\/p>\n

I prepared for my planned homebirth<\/a> and looked forward every week to the possibility of\u00a0another Thursday baby<\/a>\u00a0and when my due date passed<\/a>, I looked for every possible sign of labor<\/a> and was DONE<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I let the kids paint my big, round belly<\/a> and the next night, I wrote through my labor<\/a> and at 3:30 am on September 4, Pipsqueak was born, his birth leaving me speechless<\/a>\u00a0and shared his sisters’ experience of his arrival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I was overjoyed to finally have him here. I\u00a0announced his arrival<\/a> and shared his first few days<\/a>,\u00a0weeks<\/a> and months <\/a>with us,\u00a0our new beginning<\/a>. I was surprised by the reaction to his size<\/a>\u00a0and dealt, again, with breastmilk oversupply<\/a> (this time even worse<\/a>!)<\/p>\n

We settled into life as a family of four as I navigated my days at home<\/a> and while out and about<\/a>, realizing baby wasn’t going to stop our lives<\/a>. I’ve even had time to enjoy having four kids<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I got used to having another boy and struggled with knowing there wouldn’t be another baby girl in my life<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0time and time again I’ve struggled with him being my last baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The past year has flown by as he’s grown\u00a0and he’s had so many\u00a0firsts<\/a>\u00a0and I know the next year and all his years to come will be even more exciting and I can’t wait to share all of it and continue writing his story!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
