Was a Blowout!

A lot has changed in the past 10 years. 10 years ago, when I was in the midst of my college days, if I mentioned a blowout, I was probably talking about a sporting event or great party. Well, as any mommy can tell you, the blowouts I experience now are completely different and not nearly as fun. My new definition: A poo that far exceeds the capacity of baby’s diaper causing an explosion of sorts, often up the baby’s back but not unheard of to occur around the legs or even up the front.

Here are a few of my all-time favorite baby blowout moments:

When Honeybun was a baby I was working at a childcare center where she went with me. One morning she was happily playing in the school’s exersaucer. When I took her out, poo was dripping everywhere. Needless to say, I got to take that exersaucer seat home for a good washing and the poor other babies had to do without for a day.

When Sugarplum was 7 months old we took her home to Colorado for the first time. We went up to the mountains so hubby could ski and when I took her out of her car seat after the long drive there was poo everywhere. Sugarplum just laughed at me.

When we took Doodle to Disney for the first time we went to Hollywood studios. I’ll admit I forget to change his diaper regularly when we’re away from home and while we were watching the Muppet Vision show he worked out a big poo while sitting with me in my sling. When we got out of the show and I went to put him back in the buggy, I noticed poo all up his back. And all over my sling. And all over my white shirt (luckily it was 4th of July and I had a red tank underneath that didn’t show the poo nearly as much!)

And my all-time favorite:

Doodle timed his first blow out perfectly to coincide with Honeybun’s first ballet performance. As I was frantically trying to get Honeybun’s make-up and hair ready, we heard Doodle make the poo. Honeybun

Honeybun, Sugarplum and I laughed at the robustness of it and Sugarplum told him “Good one!” A few minutes later I looked over to see him sitting in a poo puddle and poo dripping from the bottom of his seat. Cleaning him up took longer than doing Honeybun’s hair and make-up and I had to wash the seat cover 3 times to get all the poo stains off.

I’m sure I have a lot more “blowouts” in my future (seeing as we’ve had 2 in the past 3 days) but I guess that’s just part of being a mommy.

A lot has changed in the past 10 years. 10 years ago, when I was in the midst of my college days, if I mentioned a blowout, I was
