{"id":1107,"date":"2013-07-16T14:48:14","date_gmt":"2013-07-16T18:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=1107"},"modified":"2013-12-15T21:19:53","modified_gmt":"2013-12-16T02:19:53","slug":"leaving-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/16\/leaving-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaving Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I remember the first time I left Honeybun\u00a0home, she was a few days old and I ran (quickly!) to Babies \u2018R\u2019 Us to get her some cutie-patootie girlie clothes for when her Grandma and Grandpa met her for the first time as the one girl outfit I had for her was way too big (she wore it for Valentine\u2019s Day when she was 8 months old).\u00a0 Being my first baby, I cried the whole way there.\u00a0 I was gone a whole 40 minutes but we survived.\u00a0 The first time I left her home with daddy while I went to work (she was 6 weeks old) and I was gone long enough that she required a bottle, again I cried.\u00a0 And a week later when I left her at the childcare center for the first time, I cried again.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1108 alignright\" alt=\"164854_1511961048519_4775716_n\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n-300x225.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n-390x293.jpg 390w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/164854_1511961048519_4775716_n.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0I don\u2019t actually remember the first time I left Sugarplum home; I vaguely remember it maybe being a trip to the grocery store? Clearly a case of the \u201c2<sup>nd<\/sup> child\u201d and I know I didn\u2019t cry.\u00a0 The first time I left her to go to an American Women\u2019s Club Meeting.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t cry but was worried the whole meeting about how she was doing.\u00a0 I had left her a cup of expressed milk but despite numerous attempts she had previously refused to take it.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t end up needing it that day and I returned a few hours later to find Hubby on the couch with Sugarplum asleep on his chest and Honeybun\u00a0sitting next to him watching a movie, way past her bedtime.\u00a0 He admitted when Sugarplum\u00a0fell asleep he was afraid she would wake up and not take the milk and\/or have one of her famous screaming fits (see\u00a0<a style=\"line-height: 1.7;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/02\/the-scream-heard-around-the-neighborhood\/\">&#8220;The Scream Heard Around the Neighborhood&#8221;<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.7;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve left Doodle a few times while running errands near home, doing so with no tears.\u00a0 But yesterday I left him for the first time when I couldn\u2019t rush home if necessary.\u00a0 I actually left him twice yesterday, and I did cry the first time because I didn\u2019t know how long I\u2019d be gone and I was worried he might need the bottle I had begrudgingly prepared.
