So I knew I was getting old.\u00a0 My body is not as resilient as it used to be as became blatantly apparent during my last pregnancy which was way more tiring and uncomfortable than the first 5 years ago.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also been seeing a lot of people of TV who are just a few years older than I am that I\u2019ve always viewed as much older than myself.\u00a0 I guess I still see myself as part of the college-aged, Real World<\/i> age group.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t until yesterday though that I realized how \u201cold\u201d I really am, I guess not so much how old I am but how I\u2019m ACTUALLY an full-fledged adult now.<\/p>\n
While teaching my advanced ballet class which is made up of mostly teenagers, I used the soundtrack from the movie Center Stage<\/i> to help boost the energy on a Friday morning.\u00a0 Center Stage<\/i> came out when I was in High School and is one of the most well-known and loved ballet\/dance movies ever.\u00a0 I asked the kids after 4 or 5 songs if they had figured out where the music was from.\u00a0 A few responded with \u201cI recognize it but I can\u2019t put my finger on what it\u2019s from\u201d so when we were done I showed them what it was and expecting them to get all excited and say \u201coh, yeah!\u201d\u00a0 Instead I got blank stares then one girl said dryly \u201cI\u2019ve never seen it.\u201d\u00a0 And the rest admitted the same.\u00a0 WHAT?!?!?!?!<\/p>\n
Center Stage<\/i> is a supremely important dance movie, up there with Dirty Dancing<\/i> and Fame<\/i>.\u00a0 How could these kids have NEVER seen it?\u00a0 Yep, you guessed it, I\u2019m old.\u00a0 I think I’m going to talk to the director about starting a once monthly movie night with the older girls where they could experience such amazing movies so I went to my DVD cabinet to see what other treasures I had that I\u2019d forgotten about.\u00a0 Turns out my copy of Center Stage <\/i>is on VHS.\u00a0 I guess I really am old.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
