{"id":10359,"date":"2016-03-09T11:28:53","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T16:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/?p=10359"},"modified":"2016-03-09T11:28:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-09T16:28:53","slug":"potty-panic-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/09\/potty-panic-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Potty Panic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>About 6 weeks after we started potty training with Doodle, we headed to Disney for the weekend.\u00a0 He was doing awesome with the pee part (though pooing has been a struggle) so we weren&#8217;t really worried about it.<\/p>\n<p>He was great the first day at Epcot but the second day something terrible happened: when hubby took him to go potty, the toilet flushed while he was sitting there and all hell broke loose.\u00a0 He refused to go the rest of the day until we left the park (though he never did have an accident).<\/p>\n<p>And refused again the next day.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10362\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic.png\" alt=\"potty panic\" width=\"1152\" height=\"604\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic.png 1152w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-600x315.png 600w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-390x204.png 390w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-1024x537.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/potty-panic-1000x524.png 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1152px) 100vw, 1152px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And now, ever since then, he won&#8217;t even try to use a toilet that automatically flushes.\u00a0 As soon as he sees it he starts saying &#8220;no potty!\u00a0 too loud!\u00a0 scary!&#8221; and refuses to even sit.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s become a big problem as more and more places from restaurants to airports to stores are installing them.<\/p>\n<p>And the worst part is, there doesn&#8217;t seem to be any solution.\u00a0 He won&#8217;t sit, he won&#8217;t try and no amount of coaxing, convincing, begging or bribing does one bit of good.\u00a0 If he doesn&#8217;t want to go, that&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<p>At home it&#8217;s not a big deal because he can go whenever he&#8217;s ready and accidents are easy to deal with but when we&#8217;re out running around, driving places or traveling on the airplane, him holding it makes things over complicated and stressful because we never know when the sudden urge is going to hit him and then we&#8217;re in trouble hunting for a bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>With all the potty training troubles we&#8217;ve had (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondmommying.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/20\/potty-training-tips-and-trials\/\">we&#8217;ve had a lot!<\/a>) this has never been a problem. \u00a0The girls were always easy enough to get to sit and at least try but Doodle just isn&#8217;t having it. \u00a0And we&#8217;re headed to Disney again in a few weeks!<\/p>\n<p>So what tips do you have for helping a reluctant or scared pottier (we think this is his problem with pooing as well) get over their fear and go without trouble?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About 6 weeks after we started potty training with Doodle, we headed to Disney for the weekend.\u00a0 He was doing awesome with the pee part (though pooing has been a struggle) so we weren&#8217;t really worried about it.
