Last Minute Kid Made Easy Father’s Day Gift

I used to be really good at planning ahead. I could easily remember everything I needed to do without a planner or calendar. I always arrived on time, and usually early. I never forgot important events and was often prepared way in advance.

Fast forward four kids and whole lot of life later and I’m the exact opposite. I can’t seem to get anywhere on time, I’m always forgetting things and leaving things until the last minute.

And while I’ve always loved creating one of a kind gifts, unique to the specific receiver, my time and patience for going above and beyond in showing people how much I cared for them has also waned.

But one place I’ve tried to stay on top of things is for Father’s Day. Hubby and I don’t usually do birthday or anniversary gifts and try to keep Christmas low key so Father’s Day is my one chance to go above and beyond for him. Plus, I’ve always tried to do an easy Father’s Day gift that’s more from the kids than from me.

It doesn’t mean, though, that I’m always good a planning ahead to get something done. In fact, I’ll admit that I’m usually throwing something together at what feels like the last minute (though he doesn’t usually know!) which is why I love this year’s kid-created, easy Father’s Day Gift: it can be easily completed at the last minute, in less than an afternoon and is almost completely kid made!

Last Minute, Kid Made, Easy Father’s Day Gift

All you need:

  • 1 small picture mat for each child
  • paint
  • individual picture of each child
  • some kind of frame/display board

3 easy steps for a last minute, kid made, easy Father’s Day gift:

  1. Have kids paint their individual mats however they want.
  2. Attach the kids’ individual pictures to their painted mat.
  3. Put the mats onto/into the frame or display board.

I found this completed frame with clips at my local craft store which, with its four openings, was perfect for our family. I not only love the look of our finished project, but also that it will be easy for hubby to change out the kids’ pictures and projects over time as they grow.

You can also easily create your own way to display the pictures and painted mats different ways:

Arrange the pictures and mats in a larger frame.

Glue Clothespins or clips to a plain or painted canvas to hold the pictures.

Get a window pane frame that matches your family and glue or screw on clips or clothespins to hold the pictures in the openings.

You can also find different styles of ready-to-go photo frames with clips on Amazon.
