The First Few Days with Pipsqueak

We are now on day 4 with 4 kids and truthfully, it’s been absolutely amazing.  Not only is Pipsqueak such an easy-going and calm baby, but big sisters have overall been very well-behaved and even Doodle, who easily could have gone either way on this big brother gig, is completely in love with “bay-ba.”  They all love holding him (and touching him and stroking him and poking at him) and are constantly worried about where he is and what he is doing from the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night.

But I’m definitely not delusional, I know this bliss won’t last.  But that’s only because I’ve had amazing help with hubby home as well as Grandma and Grandpa coming over and helping out a lot.  Having all the extra adult help has made it so I’m able to concentrate on Pipsqueak’s needs knowing my other three are taken care of but also being able to hand-off Pipsqueak if one of my other babies needs my attention.  It seems like a small thing, but I really think it’s making a huge difference.

I’ve been getting up each morning with Doodle and getting breakfast ready while hubby sleeps in with Pipsqueak (partly because I’m usually already up and partly because I’m not supposed to carry Pipsqueak on the stairs yet!)  I’m also trying to take the time to cuddle and chat with all my babies regularly and if Doodle or Sugarplum has a meltdown, so long as Pipsqueak isn’t nursing, I try to take the time to cuddle and console them sans baby.  I want all my babies to know they are important and special to me and that another baby doesn’t mean I don’t love them just as much as before.

Hubby has also been really great at giving me some much needed resting time with Pipsqueak by taking the older ones (all of them!) out for a while which is good for everyone.

So here’s a little bit of what life has been like with 4:
