This is Why…Three Year Old Style

When my kids do something they shouldn’t and end up with a negative natural consequence, I will usually say “This is Why…”  and then take a picture (if you missed my series of “This is Why…” moments, be sure to check it out for a good laugh!)  Now Sugarplum has picked up on the habit but doesn’t quite understand how it works so her use often cracks me up.

The first time I noticed her using it was as we loaded up in the car.  She’s become very stubborn about buckling herself with no help but was struggling so I offered to move her dress away from the buckle for her which prompted her to exclaim “This is why I don’t wear clothes!”

Since that first occurrence, she’s had many “this is why…” moments in just a few days.

I’ve taught the girls to put their own coats on by putting their arms in and flipping it over their head, but this method only works if the coat is upside down to begin with.  Usually I hold the coat upside down for them but she did it herself and it ended up on upside down and when hubby pointed it out to her, she said “This is why I don’t wear a coat!”

And at the park one day, while working on her flips for gymnastics and getting stuck over and over again (because she wouldn’t let go of the bar after flipping!) she finally exclaimed “This is why I don’t go to the park!”

During our recent trip to Naples, we played mini golf and after getting stuck out in a downpour and getting soaking wet, when we loaded up in the car I was surprised when she said “This is why we don’t do mini golf, because the car gets too hot!” (I expected her to say something about the rain and having to take her wet shirt off.)

Then one morning I went into the girls’ room to find them arguing about whether Honeybun’s dresser door should be opened or closed and Sugarplum exclaimed “This is why I don’t wake up!”
